How to take daily attendance
Mark a class register for today in under a minute, and check it saved.
This is the short version for a teacher or admin marking a class register. For the full picture, including monthly views and why numbers sometimes look wrong, see Taking attendance.
Before you start
You need Attendance access and Save Attendance access. If Save is missing when you reach the register, you have the first but not the second. Ask an admin.
You also have to be assigned to the class and section you are marking.
Mark the register
- Go to Student > Attendance Entry.
- Choose Branch, then Class, then Section. Each one clears the choices below it, so work down the list.
- Leave the date on today.
- Keep the toggle on Day.
- Click Proceed. Your class loads.
- Turn on Present All Students.
- Flip the switch off for each student who is missing. The Overview panel counts Present and Absent as you go, so check it matches the room.
- Click Save.
You'll see Saved successfully.
Check it saved
Switch the toggle to Month. Today's column should show P and A against the right students. If the column is blank, the save did not go through. Go back to Day and try again.
The one thing to get right
A register you never save is not "not taken". It is everybody absent.
FEMS has no "attendance not recorded" state. Any day without a saved register counts as an absence for every student in that class, and it drags down their attendance percentage. If you realise you missed a day, load that date and mark it. Admins can mark past dates.
If it will not save
"You are not assigned to this class and section." You are marking a class that isn't yours. Ask an admin to mark it, or to fix your class assignment.
A message about a time restriction, or "Class time table not found in class routine." Both come from a school-hours rule that the Attendance Entry page does not enforce, so you are marking attendance from somewhere other than this page. See Taking attendance.
The register loads empty, showing "No Attendance Found". No students are placed in that class and section for the current academic year. Check you picked the right section.
